October 13th is Ride to Work Day! I definitely agree with Brendan in his comment below which said that the best way to encourage bike use would be designing towns and cities to promote it better. The same could apply for encouraging greater use of public transport, and also for walking! And less than two percent of trips are made by bicycle in countries such as Australia, the US and the UK.
