Welcome to the Cheltenham Scottish Society website. The Society exists to promote good fellowship amongst its members, to encourage the study and apprecation of Scottish history and literature, and to preserve Scottish folklore, music and song, dancing and traditions. The Society has an active Scottish Country Dancing Section. 30pm on Friday evenings in the Montpelier Hall, St Andrews United Reformed Church, Cheltenham. The Country Dancing page gives details.
The main activity of the Society is the Reel Club which meets weekly during term-time. We have dancers of all abilities from experienced to total beginners. Scottish Dancing is FRIENDLY, FUN and GOOD EXERCISE! New Members are VERY WELCOME. You do not need a partner. Although some of our members are Scottish, many are not. Well folks, welcome to summer! This past Tuesday night was hopping at the Dogbar. Open Mic night hosted by Steve Caraway was loaded with people. The patio, bar and dining room were all pretty much full, it was almost standing room only! Everyone was really enjoying themselves and it was good to see a lot of college kids and even college graduates out enjoying themselves.
